終端控制點(TCS節(jié)點)和管理控制點(SCS節(jié)點)在SBC模塊上發(fā)展起來。傳統(tǒng)的LAN(10/100M以太網(wǎng))或SCI模塊提供了分布式節(jié)點間的弱/強相互作用?;贒SP的具有前端信號調(diào)理電子器件的數(shù)據(jù)采集控制模塊作為TCS節(jié)點的基本部分嵌入到系統(tǒng)中。TCS和SCS都能以自治模式運作。TCS和SCS中的虛擬模型能夠通過用戶友好界面作為數(shù)據(jù)文件來使用或者用于內(nèi)部或外部(精確度高的DAC)節(jié)點上的信號仿真。

二十世紀八十年代后期,整個計算機板被大規(guī)模集成芯片所限制,而后此芯片發(fā)展為單片機或DSP。PC/104(Plus)模塊將會由支持嵌入式Linux的臺式機和筆記本電腦組件組成。PC/104-Plus增加了使用板板總線(120管腳)的PCI總線。微型機包括了一些插入底板總線的板(模塊)。第一個微型機是基于8位ISA的。一些現(xiàn)代的緊湊型計算機通過在一個單板上或基于無源總線(VME/VXI, cPCI)的獨立型(無底板)系統(tǒng)來實現(xiàn)其功能。用于數(shù)據(jù)采集和控制的底板計算機由于體積太大而無法作為智能嵌入式節(jié)點。單板計算機(SBC)和輸入輸出模塊在大型試驗中能作為有效的平臺用于緊湊型數(shù)據(jù)采集和控制系統(tǒng)中。具有新型接口(USB、FireWire、Single Eurocard(3U形式))的嵌入式SBC是國際標準(IEEE1101.1)。VME總線允許3U形式的16位數(shù)據(jù)傳送,而完整的數(shù)據(jù)總線帶寬支持6U。 嵌入式SBC模塊開放了緊湊型系統(tǒng)節(jié)點結(jié)構(gòu)。cPCI形式具有一些優(yōu)勢。與VME(3U)相比,cPCI(3U)是個更高效的系統(tǒng)(性價比高)。使用底板的方法使維護和升級3U cPCI模塊變得更為簡單。cPCI/PXI總線支持single-wide板和double-wide板中的32位或64位數(shù)據(jù)傳送。 cPCI(3U)的總線性能優(yōu)于3U VME。cPCI/PXI增加了系統(tǒng)的靈活性,將PCI擴展槽的槽數(shù)由4個提高到了8個。用于工業(yè)現(xiàn)場(如VME)的cPCI和用于模塊儀器系統(tǒng)(如VXI)的PXI都是基于無源底板的。cPCI/PXI(3U)板支持I/O,并用于需要分布式I/O的工業(yè)自動化中。cPCI支持現(xiàn)場總線用于數(shù)據(jù)采集、控制、監(jiān)視和進程報告中,但是價格昂貴。
